Life Is a Peep Show

31 Jul

When I was growing up, there was a lot of talking at home…sometimes more than one conversation at the same time. My mom and my older sister had lots to say. Of course, that made sense. Mom was the parent and my sister was practicing to become a great teacher! Perfect, no? As a result, I was the listener and the observer.

I’ve done a lot of listening and observing over the years, and there’s one thing I have discovered. Life is a lot like a Peep Show.

By the way, not all Peep Shows were X-rated. I researched it.

Imagine the Peep Show taking place in the center of a large circular structure which is solid except for many tiny holes all around it. So as people peep in through these tiny holes, some are viewing from the front, some from the back, some from the sides, etc. Everyone is viewing the same show at the same time, but seeing slightly…or greatly…different things.

That’s how I see life. We all have our unique perspectives as we view life through our tiny peep holes. And isn’t it interesting how we all think we know EXACTLY what is happening from our tiny views of life? Hmmmm…

I think I’ll keep listening and observing…and even try some other peep holes for different perspectives.

By the way, Glennon from Momastery posted a great example on her blog yesterday. It shows just what can happen when we do listen, observe – and stay open. Yay, Glennon!!

That story from Momastery was a really neat example. Thanks for sharing!
