Friend Making Monday – Inside Your Home

8 Oct

(Now here’s the…unique…situation. I’m temporarily living with my x-husband in the home we had built when our daughter was very young. Along life’s way, I lost a husband and gained a life-long friend. We’ll always be family no matter what we call each other.)

1.  Do you live in an apartment/condo, townhouse or house? House.

2.  What is your home’s coolest feature? There are lots of open windows across the back of the house with great screened and unscreened patio areas.

3.  Do you enjoy DIY projects?  If so, what are you working on now? Yes. My last project was faux painting the laundry room walls. (The laundry room was a safe place to experiment, but it actually turned out great!) I’m currently working on a fun rag rug (tying knots) for my daughter.

4.  When using the dishwasher do you use powder detergent or liquid? Tablet. 😦  But I just recently discovered Costco’s (Kirkland) great environmentally friendly liquid dish soap. It smells citrus-y, which I love, and it’s very gentle.

5.  Do you have a TV in your bedroom? Yes.

6.  Is your range gas or electric? Electric.

7.  How often do you sweep/mop/vacuum? Often, it’s daily in the kitchen. There’s a certain member of the house who is a “little messy,” but I won’t point any fingers.

8.  What is your favorite place to shop for home furniture and accents? In small shops where there are more unique offerings.

9.  Do you decorate for holidays? There are lots of holiday decorations hanging around in storage, but we decorate rather simply these days.

A couple of years ago, we had a Christmas tree that never got decorated beyond lights, so I added a sign that said “I AM DECORATED!” How many times have we all said, I HAVE to do this…at the expense of our well being? Ultimately, putting that sign up provided a huge release to the pressures of holiday duties…and laughter!  Of course, we still took our annual picture of the family in front of the tree.  And we did have a great holiday together!

10.  If you could have HGTV come in and redo one room in your home which room would you choose? Master bath. I know someone who would be very happy about that possibility. Planning what/how much to redo has been more work than arranging to have it done.

When the pressure builds, let’s all find a way to put a sign up…and laugh it off…together!

Once again, if any of my blogging readers would like to participate, here’s what you do:

Wow! not all marriages end up like yours. Congratulations, that is a great accomplishment and more so for your daughter’s sake. Love decorating too! 😀

I have often just wanted to have a plain tree for Christmas with nothing but a tree skirt. Unfortunately my mom won’t have any part of that. Your picture reminded me of that.

    Sabrina, stopping by from FMM.

Hi Sabrina! Maybe one day you, too, can have an “underdeccorated” tree, and we’ll start a new trend.

Good luck with the Whole30, it’ can be a life-changer…in all good ways!
